Sserunkuma Saga: What we love most may sometimes blind us from seeing what we need most!

The Kenyan League season is over and everyone, players, technical benches, offices are in the process of re-strategizing for the coming season. Recruitments, trials, all are in programme for teams in order to beef up in readiness for the season to come. On the players side, they are either leaving their respective clubs, either to get better terms or to follow their hearts. That is the norm in the football business, it shouldn't sound strange or alien to clubs.

Sserrunkuma and Gor Mahia

Dan Sserunkuma has been one of the most brilliant of goal poachers since he joined the Kenyan League. He is a darling of the fans and an asset to the team. He creates an impact whenever he is on the pitch and he is terror to the opponents defense , he is one player every coach would want in his team, and Gor Mahia knows exactly that! That is why any news of Sserunkuma wanting to leave is not so good a music to the ears of anyone in the Gor Mahia family, and they would want to do anything, use every available mechanism to keep him home,( that will include fans beating up official for wanting to let him leave when the league title is knocking at the door) including sabotage.

As i said before,Football is a career, not a slave trade. Everyone, every player who feels there are better opportunities elsewhere needs to be given that opportunity to explore those opportunities. This will also give the club a chance and space to identify new talents that may help their clubs to prosper. Sometimes you gotta lose something you endear most so that you may create space for something you need most!
Maybe there is something we cant just see because we tend to be blinded by the existence of Danny. Maybe he is the reason why Paul Kiongera, Edwin Lavatsa, Kevin Omondi or even Paul Odhiambo have not been on their top! Gor mahia, I believe has so many stars in the team, they dont even need to sign anyone, passe, but with the available team, they have all the talents they need to retain the League and win more trophies, and even prosper in their continental assignments.

As Gor Mahia fraternity, please let Danny go, along with anyone else who feels they need to,and explore greener pastures. In fact we should so much cherish the time he has been with us, all the good tidings he has brought to the club. We should be happy that he is leaving and we should be happy for him and pray for him to prosper in His endeavor. We should not cry because he is over and done with us; instead, we should be happy that Danny Sserunkuma Happened to Gor Mahia. After all, football is just business, and like any other business, you would only want to take your business where it earns you so much.

I wish our Super Boy Danny all the best in his new career adventures.

SoNy players Attack: FKF to Blame!!

If you drop a ball, do you start complaining about the way it is bouncing?

In any environment where there exists a mammoth crowd, it is most likely that there is a part of the crowd that is not really part of it, and that's how hooliganism exists in football and in clubs with huge followings.

As much as we detest hooliganism in football, it's something that cannot be eradicated by word of mouth. Every club with a huge fan base always has a crowd control problem, and it's upon the parties involved to make sure that every fan, every player is protected during a match.

Even jihad doesn't make people Muslims.

Even huge crusades doesn't convert everyone to Christianity.

As much as we hate hooliganism, we cannot deny the fact that it exists, and it's upon football stakeholders to come up with stringent security measures so that everyone in the stadium is protected from hooliganism.

At Kasarani, I saw no security which is why the Football Kenya Federation should bear all the blame for what happened to those injured players.

Gor was not the home team, neither was SoNy sugar, that means the organizers of this tournament had the responsibility of putting in place all necessary security measures to make sure everyone in the stadium was properly protected from unruly characters!

As for the hooligans who attacked players, just check the TV footage, you will know them and you can identify them, let them be brought to book.

Sony Survives! Thanks to Kasaya

The season is over. Gor Mahia have been declared champions in the most emphatic way, an event that has made them the darling of the town. Everyone wants a piece of kogalo, The former prime minister, the governor, the parliament, media stations, everyone just wants a piece of the champions. Anyway, thats well deserved, they worked hard for it and they need to savor all the flavor while it lasts. congratulations to the mighty Kogalo.

Back to my point. Sony Sugar FC!

This is one team that performed poorly during the first leg under the leadership of Sammy Pamzo, no wins , no goals and sony sugar looked like a team that found itself in top flight football by a fluke. Their performance was so dismal that almost everyone gave up on them.

But then something miraculous happened. They fired Pamzo and brought in Zico, and zico brought in players that he understood well. One of the best bets Ziko made is to bring in Kasaya From Bandari, and the gamble paid off quite well. I have known Kasaya as a person and i know his capability. He has a good eye for balls and has instincts of a cat. This is , i believe, one of the best assets Gor mahia Gave away, maybe they had their reasons, ( of course Kasaya has personal issues that are not related to football, especially his attitude) but if I was a coach, I would Keep Him at all costs.

Come second leg, with Kasaya in goal, things were great for Sony. If there was no goal, Kasaya made sure he kept his territory clear, and if they scored first, he made sure that it remained that way. So whatever has happened to make sony escape relegation, that Kasaya happened to them. No wonder he has been mentioned as one of the best keepers in Kenya, and i couldn't agree more.
So if there is any bull being slaughtered at Awendo Green Stadium, Kasaya should get the 4 thighs because Kasaya has been the Undisputed Saviour of Sony Sugar FC
